The male kribensis gets a bright purplish red belly so they can be easily distinguished from females. Kribensis, or simply kribs, are some of the smallest African cichlids, growing to only three inches, easy to breed, and they go well with other cichlids, barbs, and angel fish. Nano aquarium species, like crystal red shrimp and chili rasboras, are not appropriate for any cichlid, even dwarf (little fishies) like our kribs.
